Allergosan ointment contains the active substance chloropyramine from the group of so-called antihistamines. It has a well-defined anti-allergic effect. Applied to the skin, it suppresses itching, removes redness, swelling and rashes. Allergosan ointment is used for insect bites; contact dermatitis and other itchy dermatoses (inflammation of the skin); rash and itching in various allergic conditions that do not appear on large areas of skin.

Usage
Apply the affected areas of the skin with a thin layer of Allergosan cream 2-3 times a day.
The duration of application is not more than 5 days.
More Information
Topical application of Allergosan cream may cause itching or irritation, which passes quickly. In some cases, allergic dermatitis or other allergic skin reactions may occur. No general resorptive or systemic effects were observed with topical application of the product.
Contraindications
In which cases should you not apply Allergosan cream?
Allergosan should not be used in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to the active substance or to any of the excipients.
Precautions for use
When should Allergosan cream be used with caution? It is not recommended to apply the product on large areas of skin, damaged skin integrity and burns.
Special warnings
Allergosan cream is more suitable for acute skin reactions with wetting and fluid secretion. Allergosan cream can be used during pregnancy and breast-feeding, but only at the discretion of the attending physician. When applied topically Allergosan cream is not absorbed and does not affect active attention, ability to drive and use machines.
Drug interactions
What other drugs affect the action of Allergosan cream? There are no data on the interaction of the product with other agents in topical application. However, the use of other topical medicines at the same time as Allergosan cream is not recommended.

1. What Allergosan ointment is and what it is used for
- Allergosan ointment contains the active substance chloropyramine from the group of so-called antihistamines. It has a well-expressed anti-allergic effect. Applied to the skin suppresses itching, eliminates redness, swelling and rashes.
Allergosan ointment is used in:
- insect bites;
- contact dermatitis and other itchy dermatoses (inflammation of the skin);
- rash and itching in various allergic conditions that do not affect large skin areas.
If after 5 to 7 days you do not feel better or your condition worsens, you should seek medical attention.
2. What you need to know before you use Allergosan ointment
Do not use Allergosan ointment
- • if you are allergic to the active substance or any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6).
Warnings and precautions:
Talk to your doctor, pharmacist or nurse before using Allergosan ointment.
- If you have acute skin reactions with the formation of exudate (secretion, inflammatory fluid), it is more appropriate to apply the other dosage form – Allergosan cream.
- It is not recommended to apply the product to open wounds or burns. Be careful when applying the product that part of it does not get into the eyes, on the mucous membrane of the nose or oral cavity.
Other medicines and Allergosan ointment:
- Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are using, have recently used or might use any other medicines.
- It is not known whether other medicines affect the action of Allergosan ointment.
Pregnancy, breast-feeding and fertility:
- If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.
- The doctor will decide if the use of Allergosan ointment is right for you.
Driving and using machines:
- Allergosan ointment does not affect active attention and can be used by drivers and machine operators.
- Allergosan ointment contains the excipients lanolin and cetyl alcohol, which may cause skin reactions at the application site (e.g. contact dermatitis).
3. How to use Allergosan ointment
- Always use this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or as your doctor, pharmacist or nurse has told you. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
The recommended dose is:
- Adults and children (infants and children up to 18 years) – a small amount of the cream is applied to the affected surface 2-3 times a day, lightly rubbing it into the skin.
Method of administration:
- Allergosan ointment is intended only for topical application to the skin. It is suitable for use in chronic skin diseases with hyperkeratosis (gasket, thickening of the surface layer of the skin).
- It can be applied under a bandage or through physiotherapy procedures in order to better penetrate the skin and achieve a quick healing effect.
- It should not be applied to open wounds, in the eyes, on the mucous membrane of the nose and oral cavity.
Duration of treatment – from 5 to 7 days.
If you use more Allergosan ointment than you should:
Since the product is applied topically to the skin, an overdose is unlikely. In case of accidental ingestion of a large amount of the product, seek medical attention.
If you forget to use Allergosan ointment:
- Do not apply a larger amount of the drug to compensate for the miss.
If you have any further questions on the use of this medicine, ask your doctor, pharmacist or nurse.
4. Possible side effects
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
- Very rarely, Allergosan ointment can cause itching or irritation of the skin.
- In some cases, hypersensitivity reactions (e.g. contact dermatitis) may occur when applying Allergosan ointment, which may be caused by the auxiliary substances lanolin and cetyl alcohol found in its composition.
If you get any side effects, talk to your doctor, pharmacist or nurse. This includes any possible side effects not listed in this leaflet.
5. How to store Allergosan ointment
- Store in the original package, in a place protected from light, at a temperature below 25°C.
- Keep out of the reach of children.
- Do not use Allergosan ointment after the expiry date which is stated on the package.
- You can use this medicine for up to 1 month after opening the tube.
Do not throw away any medicines via wastewater or household waste. Ask your pharmacist how to throw away medicines you no longer use. These measures will help to protect the environment.

What Allergosan ointment contains:
- The active substance is chloropyramine hydrochloride 10 mg in 1 g of ointment.
- The other ingredients are: cetyl alcohol, lanolin; paraffin, white soft.
What Allergosan ointment looks like and contents of the pack:
Ointment of pale yellow color, odorless.
- 18 g ointment in an aluminum tube with a plastic cap;
- 1 tube in a cardboard box, together with a leaflet.
